There’s so much to say in this current climate, but I’ll keep it brief. This industry is moving forward in the midst of a pandemic and a changing world; real estate may be my livelihood, but my team and I are dedicated to providing space to support more important and pressing cultural issues. I am increasingly grateful to work for the brokerage I do, Side, as they too champion social justice—authentically, not merely as a brand strategy. Our Director of Partnership Expansion, Aisha Chiapetta, wrote an excellent piece about Juneteenth and the Black Lives Matter movement, so I’ll let her speak for me:

“While words matter, actions matter more. I’m proud to say that at my company, Side, we’re providing the option for all inSiders (employees) that would like to celebrate Juneteenth to take a PTO day. The company is also making donations on behalf of all employees, who picked a beneficiary from a group of organizations that our black leaders helped to select. Today, we’re facing a unique crossroads. This is our chance to acknowledge past generations of inequality and suffering, and to build upon the strength we’ve gained. It’s our opportunity to move past the pain and heal together. United, and with louder voices than ever before. Take a stand, get involved, and shine your light on this critical turning point in black history.”

July 2020 Market News

On June 3rd, the California Association of Realtors (CAR) released survey data sampling California agents and their clients over the last week of May. The results revealed that buyers and sellers are now operating under very different expectations about the real estate market: the majority of buyers expect home prices to be lower while only a small number of sellers are reducing their listing prices.
